Más Cerca De Ti, Quiero Estar.

Elder Henry B. Eyring once said “at the creation of man and woman, unity for them in marriage was not given as hope, it was a command… That union in love is not simply an ideal. It is a necessity.” This statement in itself shows how essential it is that couples come together and are unified as one. Heavenly Father does not suggest that we cleave unto out spouses but expects us to become one flesh as described in the scriptures.

As a husband and wife individually draw closer to God, they draw closer to one another. I have found that as couples place God at the center of their relationship, they are able to establish a firmer foundation that can better withstand the storms of life.  When spouses both make their focus the temple, the coming together process can be accelerated. The process becomes expedited because the goal is clearer as God becomes central. Nothing will bless children more within a family than seeing how their parents prioritize the temple.

The family itself has always been Heavenly Father’s plan, so it would only make sense that the adversary is putting everything forward to tear it apart. It’s no secret that parents within media have been made to look more and more foolish. This is an attempt at attacking the roles of Mother’s and Father’s through downplaying their significance. The father’s role is to provide, preside, and protect, while the mother’s is to nurture. Each of these duties are essential and they must work together to rear up their family.

I get made fun of for this a lot, but I absolutely love the movie “The Greatest Showman” because of the way they have portrayed the wife. I think that often in media women are not only encouraged to be “independent and not need a man” but also to shame women that support their family from home. The decision to stay home or work is very personal, and neither is right or wrong. But I love the way that the wife in the movie is a good, supportive wife and mother. She doesn’t stand by her husband only when he’s successful and things are easy. She wants to be a part of all of his life and work together. When she got upset, it wasn’t because he had failed but it was because he had excluded her and retained important knowledge. However, despite that she did forgive him, and they worked to together as one to build a happy home and family.
